LAYERED DRINKS
There are dozens of layered drinks that are done as shots or on the rocks. Some of which are very popular and others that are going by the wayside. We will list some of the more popular ones.
Basic Preparation
These drinks are normally prepared in a shot glass. The ingredients can either be chilled or poured straight from the bottle at room temperature. The vast majority of layered drinks are done by putting a liquor or a liqueur on the bottom, and floating (layering) and Irish Cream or heavy cream on top. Other layered drinks can be done with two or more ingredients of different weights.
The actual layering is done by using a couple of easy methods. Pour the first ingredient approximately ¾ of the way up the glass. The first method is to take your bar spoon (that's the long one) and turn it over, placing it over the glass. Slowly and carefully pour the cream over the back of the spoon so it doesn't splash, but floats on top, almost giving a beer head appearance. The alternative method is to pour the cream over a cherry giving the same results. The spoon method is preferred.

Top with whipped cream and put mouth over glass.
For Muff Dive take a Margarita glass and put the shot glass with the ingredients into the center recess of the Margarita glass. Fill the Margarita glass around the shot glass with whipped cream and usually a male will drink the shot from the center of the glass.
